Working with Studio Ageli Architects we transformed a large double-height basement shell to create 15 new floor levels to effectively double the usable space and create distinct zones for the bars, music venues, lounge areas, and back of house facilities. We designed a complex steel frame structure to maximise usable space and suit the spatial requirements of each of the rooms without compromise.

Argent, the landlord, implemented stringent design parameters to ensure the works avoided any damage, sound or vibration transfer to the rest of the building.

We coordinated closely with the M&E Engineer to conceal the services within the structure, and the Acoustic Consultant to design isolated spaces and vibration control for mezzanine and secondary steelwork which was suspended from the upper slab.

A detailed vibration assessment of the raked seating was carried out to ensure the structure was not subject to resonance and excessive vibration under rhythmic jumping and dancing to the music. The use of 3D BIM modelling was crucial to the success of the project, and helped ensure the venue was completed on time and within the tight programme.
