The project involved the addition of a new four-storey Corten steel clad extension, and lowering the ground floor and underpinning the walls to create an impressive double height space at the rear of the house. A series of cranked steel frames support the split levels of the house without compromising the space with internal columns.
A beautiful exposed concrete staircase, cast in-situ links the levels together and a sunken concrete pit creates a bespoke and cosy seating area at the lower ground floor.
The structural design was fully optimised with 3D modelling and drawing to create a light and efficient structure, and aid coordination with the architecture.
