Reflecting back on a milestone year
As 2025 draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on what has been another incredible year for us – and we hope it has for you too!
This year has been filled with growth, celebrations, new ideas, and the delivery of some fantastic work on exceptional projects. From marking our 10th anniversary to launching industry resources and making good progress on projects across all sectors, 2025 has reminded us how fortunate we are to collaborate with such inspiring clients, partners, and friends.
We hope you had an equally rewarding year and look forward to continuing our partnerships into 2026 and beyond.
Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!
From all of us at SD Engineers
Celebrating 10 Years of SD Engineers
Celebrating our 10th year has been one of the standout moments of 2025 for us.
Having a big anniversary like this gave us good reason to pause and reminisce, and we did so by compiling our Top 10 firsts. These included everything from our first RC built project to our first structural award to our first business mistake.
We marked the 10-year milestone with a party at one of our early projects, Flat Iron Square, and many of our close friends came to raise a glass with us. We’re truly so grateful to all our collaborators and supporters and very much look forward to building on those relationships for many, many more years to come!

Archiboo Awards
To be crowned Best Brand at the Archiboo Awards in our 10th year was very special. Our identity has changed over the years as the company has evolved and our current branding and website, by TM Studio, captures SD perfectly.
The judges noted: “…the brand embodies the studio’s values at every touchpoint, making the firm feel inventive, collaborative and quietly radical.”
And we completely agree.
We’ve come a long way since our first Clip Art logo. Thankfully.

Launching Our Carbon Toolkit
During our first 10 years, we have delivered A LOT of domestic extensions. And we’ve learnt many lessons along the way too. One of the most important lessons is how to design more efficiently – saving on materials, reducing costs, and lowering the embodied carbon associated with these projects. We started putting together an internal guide on how to reduce carbon on domestic extension projects and quite quickly realised this information would be useful to others too. As a result, the Carbon Toolkit was born. We soft-launched earlier this year, and the interest in obtaining a copy has been incredible. After many months of hard work, iterations and checking, we can now officially launch our Carbon Toolkit – designed as a free, useful resource for designers and domestic clients.

Exceptional Projects and Excellent Progress
The types and scales of projects we work on has changed since we first started SD 10 years ago. And this year the team has been kept busy delivering exceptional projects with many first- class client, design and construction teams.
We have successfully submitted for Gateway 2, designed and built complex retrofit and vertical extension schemes, expanded our residential land development offering with a number of schemes including a new 1500 unit housing project and associated civil engineering works, developed our industrial and storage facility capability, and designed to successfully navigate significant challenges and constraints across London and the UK.
So many incredible schemes, take a look here for more.
Team Highlights
We made sure this year stayed fun and the team remained connected at every opportunity.
Highlights included our Summer Fun Day with volleyball on Brighton beach, a creative Sober Social of acrylic painting the London Skyline, a beautiful visit up Horizon 22, celebrating team achievements such as promotions, new joiners, graduation ceremonies, anniversaries, and chartership success. And our Christmas Outing which involved Battle Royale Secret Santa, Ice Skating at Somerset House, and a well-earned Chinese meal.
Getting the team together is a good reminder of how much the social side of studio life matters.
