The building has undergone a major refurbishment and has been transformed into restaurant space, with the residential units retained and upgraded. The majority of the structure was re-used, with some new steelwork installed to provide strengthening for additional loads where loadbearing walls were removed. The existing foundations were re-used as far as possible, with some minor strengthening works required to widen certain foundations.

The basement level, located over a Victorian sewer, has been lowered and extended to provide more usable space. As such, the team worked closely with Thames Water to ensure no damage or vibration issues affected the sewer. SD produced detailed construction sequence sketches to clearly communicate the methodology of works for the basement space.

The façade, along with some existing joinery in the old banking hall, was carefully repaired to retain the character and history of the building.
