In 2021 Hastings Borough Council received £24.3m of funding from the Government’s Towns Fund to regenerate the area.
Towards the end of 2023, the Council announced a £3m competition to restore the West Hill Café as part of the Town Deal Hastings Castle project.
Poroban and SD Engineers entered a design with an L-shaped exposed timber structure with half of the building supported on timber stilts to cater for the steep slope of the site.
In June 2024 we were notified that our team had been shortlisted to one of the final three spaces.
Poroban has designed a building that responds well to the surroundings, and the needs of the community. We sincerely hope we’re successful and get to bring this design to life!
