Peckham Watch Factory has been recognised with an NLA Workplaces Award, celebrating the building’s transformation from its industrial past into a contemporary workspace in the heart of Southwark.
The project, by Cooke Fawcett Architects, takes a retrofit-first approach by retaining and upgrading the existing structure to create an environment with very specific requirements needed by an independent London watchmaker.

The existing structure, including gable walls, will be retained as far as possible with a new level inserted to offer additional workspace.
A north-facing saw-tooth roof will provide optimum daylight for intricate work at the upper level, and a central atrium ensures natural light also reaches all corners of the ground floor.
By upgrading the structure and improving its environmental performance, the project brings new life to the building while retaining its historic identity.

Our proposals are currently in planning, with work expected to start on site in 2026.
Congratulations to the Peckham Watch Factory team, and to all the NLA Award winners.
