Sam enjoyed maths and science based subjects at school and it was his drive to embark on a career with a physical end product that convinced him engineering was his call. Having completed a summer placement as a site engineer while studying his degree, Sam began his career as part of an in-house design team with a major contractor. He left in search of something where he could have greater responsibility and more hands-on involvement throughout the entire design process – he’s been a key member of SD since 2018.

Sam’s a people person and really enjoys building relationships with the team – internal and external. He throws himself into the collaborative and iterative design process and feels great working relationships are beneficial in achieving the optimum structural solution and intended architectural aesthetic.

A few years ago you’d have found Sam on the American Football field, but nowadays you’ll either catch him on the golf course or at a heavy metal festival or concert – he’s SD’s resident metalhead!
