Oscar Tyson Blake

Graduate Civil Engineer

MEng (Hons)

Oscar’s interest for architecture evolved into a passion for structural engineering the day he started wondering “how”. How are these buildings, some that appear gravity-defying, standing up? How do they work?

His studies and the start of his career have shown him that architecture and engineering are very much intertwined – good architecture often relies on good engineering, and vice versa. This reinforced his ambition of developing his career as an engineer.

Passionate about most sports, Oscar spends his time outside of SD running an 11-a-side Sunday League football team with a few friends.

The atmosphere at SD is very relaxed, considering the complexity and volume of projects here, that’s something which was a very pleasant surprise. That’s one of my favourite things about SD, the friendly and relaxed environment makes for an enjoyable workplace.
