Our first 24hrs at our first ever MIPIM has been fantastic!
We initially caught up on some emails – there are definitely worse places to WFH! After a freshen up, we headed to La Croisette, and of course we stopped by Caffe Roma – would be rude not to!
Later last night we jointly hosted a dinner with Jonny Callard and Joe McGowan from Thomas and Thomas. Lots of great conversation, amongst the delicious food and wine. Thanks to everyone for joining us!
We’ve only been here a short time but have learnt so much. MIPIM offers the chance to meet with the full breadth of the construction industry – something that isn’t as available back in London. We’ve had productive discussions with project managers, funders, developers, architects, and surveyors. Plus gained some insights from other business owners.
One of our highlights was talking to James Russell at The DE Group (UK) Ltd – they’re using jacking to re-level the floor plates of a commercial building to enable it to be transformed and reused as residential accommodation. It’s a great reuse story and we’ve been promised a site visit when we return to London – looking forward to it!
It’s been lovely catching up with some of our current collaborators to discuss existing and future opportunities – Ben at Mailen Design, Jamie at Anderson Wilde & Harris, Hugo at Turner & Townsend, Jon at Ackroyd Lowrie, Laurie Baugh to name just a few.
Later on today we have our joint lunch with Helen and Nic from Forcia Limited and will be joined by Stiff + Trevillion Architects, KSR Architects & Interior Designers, Even Group and Savile Brown Associates.
If you can’t tell, we’re really enjoying the company and conversations here at MIPIM. The sunshine is pretty great too!
More to follow!
